#134 Kevin Brophy 'Repairs'

#134 'Repairs'
The tiles in the shower recess were repaired today.
Tony did the job despite the tooth aching in his jaw.
Never mind they’ve gone from ochre to dull grey.

The hungry mouse behind the wall is locked away.
Tony’s tradesman’s tooth is loose and sore.
The tiles in the shower recess were repaired today.

His dismal knowledge: the dentist is two days away,
And might not, when he gets there, be any good at all.
Never mind they’ve gone from ochre to dull grey.

The main thing is the hole’s repaired and we can stay.
He knelt in dust, patient as a prophet before the law.
The tiles in the shower recess were repaired today.

The poor scuttling mouse never did intend to stay.
Behind the tiled up wall there’s darkness it can gnaw.
Never mind they’ve gone from ochre to dull grey.

The buckled roads will be rough all the way.
His broken tooth’s a gap his tongue must explore.
The tiles in the shower recess were repaired today.

Never mind they’ve gone from ochre to dull grey.
