Janette Hoppe #51 Returning Home

I travelled light years
and solar systems
just to be here with you

traced my line
from your DNA
to mine -
chief,
daughter,
mother,
you -
me.

they say land and baby are the same
it belongs in the bones of things
such as mother
daughter and
family

abandoned houses
skeleton
our hometown
land and man...
  //disconnected
mother and child...
   //disconnected

I am as vulgar
as the sun
burning in your belly
unwanted

my DNA stitched to the stars

galaxies beyond your control
dictate responsibility
mother to daughter
daughter to land
full circle
as your landscape starts to wither
you stitch me to your side
burning in your belly
your need to connect
mother to child...
mother and daughter to land...

I am still as vulgar as the sun
fuelling
the burning desire
to hold onto the bones of things
such as family,
daughter,
mother and
land

after all these years
the little girl in me still waits
for you to whisper
'I love you to the moon and back'.
