Lucy Alexander #26 One Bright Moment

as if one bright moment would for certain lead to another and then again
bringing home all the glimmering world’s highlights
as if we could bottle into bulbs the sun’s particular twinkle
the few last tokens of the day, the tremble as it darkens

what is that reflecting in the distance?
a memory of the moon, or a peachy fleck of light
from some long gone star or dream

a lasting promise that even in the night dawn is willing
