Silence

Bhisma Upreti # 1 Silence

I am a friend to silence
as silence is one to me.

We look at each other,
smirk,
share at each other’s vacuity
yet, speak no word
confess each other’s weaknesses
and yet, engage in no squabble

We stay together at home
walk around, together
enter books
and get lost in woods of words, together
We get screened, time and again
like getting strayed on the way
only to come across in the light of feelings and knowledge;
we doze off together with words
covered in the warmth of similar feelings;
we also dream together.

Though together, we are alone
and though alone, we stand together.

 I am a friend to silence
as silence is one to me.

  1. Very fine sentiment, Bhisma, beautifully expressed. Silence must always be the writer's friend, or else we would be shouting too much to ourselves.
