Rob Schackne #290 - “Today we sweep the tombs”

Today we sweep the tombs
or march along the great wall
how long have we been here
everyone is lost in the crowd
half hour to walk a hundred meters
the dead don’t want our leftovers
they’ve got problems of their own
study the back of someone’s head
what could possibly be missing
burn a bit of this burn a bit of that

today a hundred pockets picked
what could possibly go wrong
don’t forget to remember me
we contemplate tomorrow

  2. NB Perhaps I should've mentioned that yesterday was Tomb-Sweeping Day here in China, when the ancestors' graves are visited. The Great Wall typically sees enormous crowds, during this and other festival days.
